A few facts about David gaining weight if you'd care to hear them. In season 4 of The Man From UNCLE, David worked out to add muscles to make Illya stronger. You have probably noted how season 4 is more serious compared to season 3. David and Robert knew the show might be in danger of being cancelled because of the "campiness" of season 3 and they were correct.

On break from NCIS a few years ago, David and Katherine went on vacation in Europe and David gained quite a bit of weight. He said he wanted taste everything and it looks like he did. Ha ha! He hasn't lost all that weight yet. Perhaps he won't loose any more. It doesn't matter for his Ducky character to be thin.

He has aged very well. He's 82! 20 years older than me and he looks younger than me. How does he do it? He once said he has a portrait in the attic. He was speaking of the film "The Portrait of Dorian Gray." (The character Dorian Grey did not age but his Portrait he kept in the attic did.)

И за что обвиняют 3 сезон? По-моему, он как раз был неплохой, там множество отличных серий, а вот четвертый уже скатился в неуместную мрачность и ООС.

I agree the 4th season was gloomy and more serious. Like I said, David and Robert were afraid of cancellation. David spoke with Noel Harrison (Mark Slate) who was playing his role as if The Girl From UNCLE was a joke, to play his role more seriously or both shows would be cancelled. David was right. David'found out that MFU was cancelled when his wife read it to him from a newspaper. His studio never bothered to let him know. So sad and disrespectful.

Yes, it's another piece of canon. If you notice in the series, when Illya "comes to" after being knocked out he seems startled. It's how agents are trained to react. Instantly they are in "self protection mode.'
